We just fixed the brake line this weekend, now we’ll be able to tow/drive it to our fabricator. Then he’ll be installing battery racks, and the rest is basically wiring. I’ve recieved my 2/0 cable, I ordered a cable crimper (hammer style) and some other parts off ebay. I basically have everything, it just needs to start going in once we get the batteries in.

I’ve got everything installed except my chargers, my charging port, and the cooling fans (computer fans) for my controller. It was a bummer, because when it was all hooked up and I was ready to go for a test drive, nothing happened, and I eventually figured out that the controller was bad! How far are you now?

kylehondarider September 20, 2010 at 2:37 AM

So how far along are you in the process? I just got my motor installed.

Dude that’s really cool, now that you are watching, I’ll probably do more in-depth videos. Now I also have a tripod, so I can film myself. Post some videos of your Daytona!

So, where were you when I was looking to buy a motor? You didn’t start preaching until after Norm and I both bought our motors.. what do you expect us to do, sell an unused motor at a used price? I don’t think so! Plus, I wasn’t about to pay twice as much for a motor that I don’t need. I live nowhere close to freeways, so I never have to go over 60. I drive sensibly, so the motor isn’t going to get hot. Honestly. I DO NOT NEED A 9″ MOTOR! And I also don’t need your negative comments.

Kyle there is a good reason that MOST people use a larger 9-inch diameter dc motor. They don’t get as hot thus they last longer. Go to the DIY ev group and ask around. Norm is a good man that tries hard. But the problem is U BOTH DON’T LISTEN! Gav on the other hand DOES LISTEN and learns from others. Result, Gav is on the road with a quality EV and you chumps still trying to RE-INVENT THE WHEEL!
As far as Blackdogfx goes, he is SCREWING people over!

kylehondarider September 20, 2010 at 6:28 AM

Dude honestly.. Norm is one of the first to build an EV and publish videos on youtube. You probably wouldn’t be able to build an EV without him and Gav. I’ve had enough of your trash talking, and if your EV is so much better why don’t you go buy a camera and make some videos of the best EV ever built. Everybody here is trying to help everybody else, except you. Why don’t you take a look at their videos, keep your mouth shut, and appreciate some of their different ideas.

I think the average person just needs reliable and some power when they need it not all the time and smokin fast alamotuba just cant go fast enough!

blackdogfx September 20, 2010 at 7:48 AM

alamobigtuba needs to pipe down just give constructive critizizm, not slams
go blow your cello harder

blackdogfx September 20, 2010 at 7:54 AM

just havent changed the specs on the website because we are very busy here, making the hotcake cars that jmj electric vehicles make
LOL, we have the last laugh because we are selling reliable vehicles that work with tried and true companies, our customers can get support when they need it,just go back to your hobby and leave the real conversions to the experts who know how to convert reliable vehicles.

blackdogfx September 20, 2010 at 8:49 AM

Zilla, a nice and stable company, always be there when you need them! oh wait their selling the whole operation to who knows!
8″ GE motor is plenty big enough
and we have a curtis in the sammy now
plus its now 144volts

kylehondarider September 20, 2010 at 9:40 AM

Hmm.. Well I guess nobody can be as perfect as you. I guess if an EV doesn’t go 0-60 in 4 seconds and at least 150 mph it’s just not good enough. Bigger and faster isn’t always better, I don’t care what you say. Maybe you need the best of the best, but the average person generally doesn’t give a shit.

Dude, your D&D is a crappy little 6″ motor that BUSTED ALREADY! Even after knowing this, U go and get another? Also the love joys are weak. Ben Nelson is dealing with a BUSTED LOVE-JOY! They are not meant for stop-n-go!
WAKE UP!

blackdogfx September 20, 2010 at 10:12 AM

That alamo dude ragged on me also for not giving away my adapter secrets
if he just checked out my website he could see the whole adapter
oh and keep the clutch in case you need to disingage the motor from the tranny.
if you think you can take it out of gear while under full power think again
I make the adapters all myself custom
if you need help shoot me an email

kylehondarider September 20, 2010 at 11:03 AM

Thanks! I haven’t gotten the lovejoys yet, i’m looking into it. I talked to a guy that will fabricate the transmission end of it.. he’ll take the center out of my clutch disk and put it in the lovejoy. I’ve started ordering chargers from ebay.. shumacher 12 amps. I can’t do much because now I’m in college and the next few weekends I’ll be busy but next time I go home I’m gonna make another video on something. I’ve been looking at your videos, looks like the truck is coming along very nicely.

n2confusion September 20, 2010 at 11:27 AM

my d&d motor is not real hot when i run the truck. if any thing hang a 12volt fan in the engine bay.
hey it looks great
did you get the love joys?

kylehondarider September 20, 2010 at 12:09 PM

well that’s what is gonna go into it… this is the first of many so if it doesnt work, i’ll learn my lesson, but i’m pretty confident i’ll be alright

AlamoCityCello September 20, 2010 at 1:07 PM

Get a bigger motor or a smaller donor. That 6″ is just 2 small for that dodge. It will run *hot* at 120v and use 2 many amps
An 8″ will just work. a 9er would be better. Netgain has a few 8″ ADC in stock.
