Question by Didgeridude: Is a Playstation 3 a good device for downloading your CD collection to play music through AV receiver?
Am considering a Playstation 3 and am drawn to the Blueray player and gaming. I was also wondering if I could download my CD collection to the hard drive and play the music through my AV receiver but do so without losing much in the way of sound quality. Trying to cut down on clutter of CD's all over my den but not if it means lousy sound quality. Thoughts?

Yes you can,
The PS3 has a sweet media music player... it also downloads the Album name and track titles if it's a legit CD.
It has lots of cool visuals while the music is playing.
I have my PS3 setup via a HDMI cable so the music is full digital... not running through the old RCA cables.
PS3 also has optical sound so it sounds very good.

In addition to the answer above, PS3 has a digital out plug, so, if your receiver supports it, you can enjoy records to the full in Dolby Digital sound.
