hi, do we need to make any kind of changes to transmission (automatic or manual) after the motor is installed or there is no change made to original transmission?

kylehondarider February 1, 2010 at 6:38 AM

hahaha that was great

have you got a torque converter to lock up? that will get you more speed.

yes it is an automatic and it did real good . terry was not shifting on this first test trial and the car was in lowbut he shifted anbd got to 25mph

Hi there, is that an automatic transmission I see?

Yea gotta love the plasma! I love what you’re doing, and ac sounds good, do you already have plans for it?!

we had just put the motor in the car and did not have the battery cable yet so we ran jumper cables just to play around. i work with 3 phase 480v all the time. have you ever seen a 480v fuse blow up it can turn to plasma and shoot a jet of flame 6′ and is capable of blowing the door off of a disconnect. better yet when 3 phase goes phase to phase its as bright as the sun. i might look like a hick but i have been playing with electrons for a long time. i am thinking of next to do an AC system.

Good job…

yes i have but this is what came in the car i am going to wait to pass sentence untill i have tried the car at 72 to 96 volts

n2confusion February 1, 2010 at 11:56 AM

my brother was not shifting the transmission. its was in low he later shifted and the car got to 25mph. it might have been fasster we have not charged the batteries. i am just wondering what kind of speed if i had been useing a standard trans mission. i might have a 10-20 % power loss but i am not sure. i am going to put the car up to 72 volts then i will make my mind up. but i am supprised at the fact its got no gas engine

good stuff mate! just one thing. have you ever thought about running a manual gear box? they absorb less power than an auto and put more to the ground! but really good mate! well done, and you did it all really fast. it might be worth getting a curtis 1205 850 amp controller, no programing just a couple of trim pots for acceleration! keep it up!

Did you have problems using an automatic transmission? It’s a real hot topic if you can use an auto gearbox easily with an EV.

AWESOME! Well done guys! That first test drive always feels damn good huh?
